Using Young Voices

Did you know about Femina HIP's Youth Advisory Board?

Keeping up with what’s important to young people is key to Femina HIP. That’s why we have added to the ever-growing Femina HIP family by introducing a Youth Advisory Board (YAB). You may have already read about them in Fema. For several months, we’ve been calling on this young group of proactive high schoolers to tell us just what they think of us and our products.
The YAB helps our editors by sharing opinions on content whether that is stories being developed, published material being reviewed, etc. We hold meetings with the YAB to discuss different sections, articles and even the look and feel of our products.

We have also been putting our heads together with the YAB to think about new and social media. While access to internet is not so prevalent in Tanzania, we know that some youth out there are accessing the net in different ways and often from mobile phones. These are young voices we can’t afford to leave out! In this way, the YAB has been critical in helping us develop our social media agenda, as well as revamp the chezasalama.com website, coming soon!

Femina HIP gives a hearty thanks and congratulations to the YAB for their work so far. Their honest critique has been extra valuable, and we’re planning lots more creative ways to work with them in the future.

A request from Handeni
I congratulate you so much for the good work that you are doing to educate and entertain the society, but I would like you to visit us also in Handeni District, Msima Secondary.
From an out-of-school youth
Why is it when you talk about starting FEMA CLUBS you only talk about secondary school students? What about youth from the streets, don’t they need to start clubs? Ahazi Asoni from Ifwenken.
