A Transformative Journey at Usililo Secondary School

Daniwell Lucas Kamwela, head of school at Usililo Secondary School in Makete district council - Njombe region shares the Fema Club stands as a beacon of empowerment and education.

Established to promote self- awareness and adolescent health, the club has significantly impacted the lives of students. Over the past three years, there have been no reported cases of teenage pregnancies a testament to the club's effectiveness in educating youth about the risks of engaging in sex at young age.

The Fema Club's influence extends beyond health education. By fostering open discussions and peer support, it has cultivated a culture of academic excellence. Students regularly engage in study groups, sharing strategies and motivating each other to excel. This collaborative spirit has translated into improved academic performance among Fema Club members.

The benefits of the Fema Club are not confined to the classroom. New students joining Form One quickly adapt to the club's environment, embracing its values and exhibiting positive behavioral changes. Through shared experiences and guidance, they learn to prioritize their education and personal growth.

I strongly encourage other schools to establish Fema Clubs. The club's resources, including the Fema magazine, are valuable tools that can be introduced at the primary school level. Early engagement can prevent issues like drug abuse and violence by educating young people about their consequences. Such initiatives are crucial in building a safer and more informed society.

The Fema Club at Usililo Secondary School has proven to be a vital component in shaping well- rounded, disciplined, and academically successful students. Its model should be replicated across schools to harness the full potential of our youth.
